SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Friday, Utah! A few showers will impact parts of the state today. Temperatures will stay warm through Saturday before a major cooldown brings early Fall feels to the north on Sunday and Monday.
Friday’s forecast
The high-pressure ridge that has been keeping moisture at bay is breaking down, opening up the door for moisture to move into the state. That spells a mix of sun and clouds across the state and a little precipitation.
A few isolated rain showers will move across parts of Northern Utah in the morning, but they shouldn’t be major soakers. Isolated thunderstorms are expected to pop up in the afternoon in Southeast Utah, with a slight chance of a stray shower making it to St. George or Cedar City, but it’ll mainly be east of I-15 and south of I-70.
That area is prone to flash flooding thanks to the streams and low-lying canyons scattered across the terrain. That being said, flash flood potential is in the “Possible” category for almost all of Southern Utah’s parks, apart from Red Cliffs and Snow Canyon. Temperatures will be about the same as they were yesterday.
Daytime highs will be in the mid to upper 80s for most valleys, mid 70s to low 80s for higher valleys, 90s for the typical hot spots, and into the low 100s for St. George.

Saturday’s outlook
Saturday keeps partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies in the mix, but much less precipitation, if any at all. A few more brief storms could pop in Eastern Utah in the afternoon, but they’ll be so brief and light that it shouldn’t ruin your outdoor plans.
Temperatures will be a bit warmer to start the weekend in the north, but about the same in the south. We may reach the low 90s across the Wasatch Front while the south remains in the 80s; St. George will see upper 90s…
