Historic Japanese Church shares journey in finding time capsule

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — For years, questions have swirled about whether or not a time capsule was behind the cornerstone of the historic Japanese Church of Christ in downtown Salt Lake City.

Last summer, several church members decided to begin the tricky process of finding out.

Lorraine Murakami Crouse, JCC Board Trustee, said there was concern that any digging or drilling on the church’s exterior wall could create more problems.

“In order to get the cornerstone out, it would probably damage the cornerstone or maybe even the bricks around it because this building’s a hundred years old,” Crouse said…
