Painting a path for Rylie: 19-year-old with terminal cancer celebrates life one brush stroke at a time

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah (ABC4) — A 19-year-old is celebrating the beauty of life through paint after a terminal brain cancer diagnosis left her with less than six months to live.

After a Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2) diagnosis that led to over fifty surgeries, four years of radiation and chemotherapy treatment, and a neck tumor that gave her less than a 5% chance of living, Rylie Kimball has had a painful journey. Yet, she perseveres.

“It’s definitely worrisome, but I like to take each day with hope and focus on the right and the things that I can control,” Kimball told ABC4.com. “I just like to focus on the good.”

One way she does this is through oil painting. She said whether they are portraits, landscapes or just of her service dog, Coco, she’s committed to the craft because they’re the hardest to master and they bring people joy…
