SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A San Antonio man has been sentenced to 60 months in federal prison for trafficking more than 2.5 kilograms of heroin, according to U.S. Attorney Justin R. Simmons for the Western District of Texas.
Jose Luis Hernandez, also known as “Chino,” a 46-year-old, was involved in delivering heroin to a buyer on three occasions between June 28, 2024, and October 15, 2025, according to court documents. Hernandez initially provided 3.4 ounces of heroin as a “sample” before delivering 16.4 ounces and later 1.99 kilograms of the drug. He coordinated the smuggling of heroin into the United States from Mexico.
Hernandez was charged in a four-count indictment on October 15, 2025, and pleaded guilty on February 27, 2026, to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin.
