In 2025, it appeared that Genghis Grill was no longer serving the San Antonio area, as locations dwindled to zero by the year’s end. More recently, a local family with ties to the Mongolian stir-fry restaurant chain brought the build-your-own-bowl restaurant back to the Alamo City.
A new Genghis Grill is now open at the Embassy Oaks Shopping Center off Bitters Road, according to franchise owner Jeff Macaitis, who launched the location with his three daughters, Ashley, Avery and Emma. Macaitis and his family previously operated another location in San Antonio before closing after finishing their lease.
“We actually owned the location at 281/1604 in the Legacy Shopping Center but decided to move when the lease was up because we felt we would excel more and increase sales now that we’re in a more visible, populated area of town,” Macaitis told MySA.
The new location is the same as other Genghis Grill restaurants, where customers can choose from a wide variety of proteins, vegetables and sauces that are stir-fried and served with a choice of noodles, rice or tortillas, at some locations…
