Struggling San Antonio-area lake recieves boost from recent rain

Recent rain in the Texas Hill Country gave Medina Lake a much-needed boost, pushing the reservoir to its highest water level of 2026.

Medina Lake was 5.5% full as of Wednesday, June 17, according to the Bandera County River Authority & Groundwater District. That is up from 4% in May and 4.3% earlier this week before heavy rain moved through the San Antonio region.

The increase comes after storms brought road closures, flash flood warnings and at least one death across the San Antonio area. While the rainfall raised Medina Lake’s level, the reservoir remains critically low as drought conditions continue across the region.
