1. H-E-B Fourth of July Celebration
The 250th celebration of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence is going to be a big one. Even the name, semiquincentennial, is big. The city’s official Independence Day fest will feature family-friendly activities, live music, food and games. 2. San Antonio Missions

3. “New African Masquerades: Artistic Innovations and Collaborations”
It’s the closing weekend of this exhibit from the New Orleans Museum of Art that examines African performances involving dance, music and elaborate costumes. It features masquerade ensembles commissioned for the exhibit, and uses posed mannequins and video to convey how they appear in motion. Through July 5, San Antonio Museum of Art, 200 W. Jones Ave.
4. “Smithsonian Starstruck: An Immersive Experience”
This fully interactive, 3D virtual reality experience begins at the Smithsonian’s Whipple Observatory before launching visitors into space aboard the world’s most powerful telescopes. Developed in close collaboration with the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, “Starstruck” transforms astronomical data and imagery into a breathtaking exploration of the universe. 5. Disco Alfresco: Perreo Picnic
The popular outdoor summer dance party continues this Thursday with Perreo Picnic, featuring Austin’s own Perreo Club, led by founder and resident DJ Suxxy Puxxy and Dragonnqueen.
