Officer accused of speeding through red lights, rear-ending patrol car and lying about it

SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio police officer was indefinitely suspended after an internal investigation found he drove recklessly during an emergency response, failed to report a patrol vehicle crash involving another officer and later made false statements about how the damage occurred.

According to city disciplinary records, Officer Rafael Morado was suspended following an investigation into his actions while responding to a Code Two call on December 2025.

Upon review of body camera video and vehicle location data, investigators determined Morado drove a marked patrol vehicle at speeds of up to 65 mph in a 35 mph zone on Castroville Road and 60 mph in 30 mph zones on Guadalupe Street and South Zarzamora Street.
