SAN ANTONIO – Animal Care Services and San Antonio police are investigating after as many as three animals were found dead inside a parked vehicle in a public parking lot downtown.
In a statement dated July 20, 2026, San Antonio Animal Care Services said it and the San Antonio Police Department received a report earlier in the day about a strong odor coming from a car in a lot in the 100 block of West Nueva. Responding officers found evidence of heavily decomposed animal remains inside the vehicle, and there appear to be up to three deceased dogs.
The number and identities of the animals, along with their formal cause of death, will be confirmed following a veterinary examination and a necropsy, the agency said.
