Update on Thursday, August 6, at 8:39 a.m.: One person is dead following a major crash involving an 18-wheeler, according to a preliminary information report from the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).
A driver was southbound on I-35 when they veered into the right shoulder, where a vehicle was parked. The driver struck the second vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, SAPD said.
Some San Antonio-area residents received an emergency phone alert about the closure at around 8:33 a.m.
SAPD is investigating and says all preliminary information is subject to change. The stretch of I-35 south from Southcross Boulevard (Exit 151) to TX-13-LOOP and Military Drive (Exit 150) remains shut down as of 8:51 a.m…
