The newer generation of San Antonio bar-goers may not remember the days of Hardbodies Ladies Club, but for St. Mary’s Strip veterans, the male strip club was one of the more notable local attractions during its long run. After a second life as The Gallery, the business closed permanently in 2025, but there may be spirit left in that old club.
A recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) showed that an estimated $850,000 will be used to renovate the former Hardbodies space. The filing was registered on August 11 under the project name “New St. Mary’s Location,” with little else indicating what kind of business will be moving in.
The TDLR page listed a construction start date of October 1, 2026 and a projected completion date of August 10, 2027. The renovation of the property will include a minor addition along with new restrooms, additional storage, electrical updates, the installation of a new fire riser and sprinkler system, new exterior masonry, new doors, a new HVAC system and other minor modifications. Needless to say, that $850,000 cost estimate is being put to good use…
