Busy San Antonio highway at standstill after major wreck

As the workweek wraps up, drivers heading home on Friday, October 2, may want to brace for a delayed start to their weekend festivities. A major wreck has crews shutting down a busy San Antonio highway.

Just before 2:30 p.m. Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation reported a high-severity, major wreck near the intersection of Loop 410 and Espada Road. That’s near Mission Espada and just a couple of miles east of the busy Roosevelt Avenue intersection.

The wreck, which warranted a multi-hour response from first responders, has left crews shutting down the eastbound lanes of Loop 410 near Espada Road. It’s caused a major traffic backup that may only get worse as folks clock out at 5 p.m. and head home on the Southeast Side of San Antonio…
