Heavy Showers & Thunderstorms Developing Across Parts of Florida & Texas

Leftover Tropical Energy From One Point in the Gulf to the Other, Responsible for Torrential Rain & Rumbles

09/15/24 2:02pm ET

Good afternoon everyone. Remnant tropical energy is responsible for the development of today’s renewed action of heavy showers and thunderstorms ranging from south Texas to south Florida.

We’re watching the radar closely, and some fairly hefty showers and storms have begun to bubble up over or near the Miami, Ft Lauderdale, and “Alligator Alley” stretch of Florida. We’re also seeing some locally strong to severe storms possible, with Special Marine Warnings posted by the National Weather Service on & off as these storms reach the shoreline.

Locally strong winds, rough seas, hail, torrential rain, and the risk of some waterspouts, are all possible throughout the day. We could also see a few isolated strong to severe storms over land, with frequent lightning, damaging winds, torrential rain, and flooding in poor drainage areas. We could also see some of this action sink down towards the Florida Keys as the day wears on.
