Forecasts vary wildly across different outlets as the weekend approaches and the next workweek begins. But there’s one common thread among them all: A cold front barreling toward Texas means next week will be significantly cooler and gloomier as clouds roll across the Lone Star State at the tail end of the weekend.

Both The Weather Channel and the National Weather Service show a drastic drop in temperatures just as folks clock in on Monday. When this burst of northern air reaches the Texas Panhandle – from Dalhart to Amarillo – afternoon temperatures are slated to dip from the mid-90s this week to the mid-70s by Monday or Tuesday (depending on which forecaster you ask).
