Crash on SR-52 claims life of 40-year-old woman from San Diego

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The California Highway Patrol confirmed a 40-year-old woman driving a GMC Yukon died Thursday afternoon after crashing into a concrete barrier wall on State Route 52.

The crash happened around 12:53 p.m. Thursday, when the woman was reportedly driving westbound on SR-52 near Santo Road. According to CHP, for reasons still under investigation, the woman’s GMC veered off the roadway and struck the concrete barrier wall.

The woman was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries and passed away. A toxicology report is pending through the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the incident is being investigated by CHP.
