SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — An injured hiker was rescued and lowered by a stretcher onto a San Diego beach after falling over a cliff from a La Jolla trail.
Lifeguards and first responders with the fire-rescue department responded at 12:03 p.m. Wednesday to reports of an injured hiker that fell from Box Canyon trail, which is located at the foot of the 9600 block of Black Gold Road in San Diego’s La Jolla neighborhood.

Rescue crews were able to reach the man and worked together to lower him on a stretcher by a pully and rope onto the beach below, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department and footage from news helicopter SkyFOX/KUSI in the Sky.
The hiker was evaluated and treated by paramedics on the beach and was reported to be conscious at the time of the rescue. The extent of his injuries is currently unknown.
