Orphaned baby long-tailed weasel brought back to Southern California wilderness in ‘rare rescue’

Southern California wildlife officials successfully rehabilitated and released an orphaned long-tailed weasel to the wilderness in a process that took more than two months.

In a media release, the San Diego Humane Society’s Project Wildlife program explained that the “tiny patient” was found alone on a trail in Riverside County on March 20 with her eyes still closed.

Upon being taken in by officials, she became the youngest long-tailed weasel admitted to the humane society.
