CHULA VISTA, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — In a new development Monday afternoon, Larry’s mother, father and his aunt Kathy are now allowed to be in the courtroom to watch the trial. They were initially on the witness list and could have been called to testify, but on Monday afternoon, attorneys said they do not intend to call them as witnesses, and therefore are allowed to be in the courtroom.
Maya’s sister-in-law on the stand
Last week’s testimony finished with Maya’s friend and sister-in-law, Genesis Tabalanza, on the stand, and she was back on the stand for a majority of the day on Monday. Genesis is married to one of Maya’s brothers. During the defense’s cross-examination, the attorneys showed text messages between Larry and Genesis.
Larry said in a text message in 2020 that Maya asked for an open relationship.
The defense is going through the text messages to try to show the jury that Larry was willing to fight for their marriage, because he loved her, attorney and true crime writer Aleida K. Wahn said…
