OCEANSIDE, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Two people were injured after an Oceanside beachgoer was swept out to sea from a jetty and another person jumped in to save them during high surf conditions Tuesday evening.
The entire San Diego County coast is under beach hazards statements through Thursday afternoon. Four to seven feet surf, with sets up to nine feet, are forecast, along with hazardous swimming conditions and a high rip current risk, according to the National Weather Service.
Lifeguards rescue man in distress at end of Oceanside Pier
The Oceanside Fire Department reports the rescue happened at the North Jetty at 1400 N Pacific Street in Oceanside at 7:12 p.m. Tuesday during some of the highest surf conditions in years.
