A late-night fight outside a Grantville apartment complex ended in deadly gunfire last Friday, leaving a 19-year-old man dead and rattling a neighborhood that sits right next to a busy San Diego Trolley stop.
San Diego police said officers and paramedics were called just after 10:20 PM to the Union Grantville apartments on Alvarado Canyon Road near Fairmount Avenue, where a physical altercation had broken out. At some point during that confrontation, someone opened fire, striking the 19-year-old.
According to The San Diego Union-Tribune, investigators later found the wounded man in the backseat of a vehicle in the 6900 block of Mission Gorge Road. The driver had apparently tried to rush him to a hospital but crashed before getting there. Paramedics took over, transporting the victim to a trauma center, where he died…
