A California daycare operator has been sentenced to prison after a 16-month-old girl died from accidental asphyxiation while under her supervision, following a series of unsafe childcare decisions that prosecutors said led to a completely preventable tragedy.

Stacy Lee Snow, 54, owner and operator of Snow Angels Childcare and Preschool, was sentenced to three years in county jail after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter in April.

The sentencing followed the death of a toddler who became trapped while napping at Snow’s home-based daycare in El Cajon.
