SAN DIEGO — Starting Wednesday, July 1, the City of San Diego will officially discontinue collection of trash from the older black bins as part of a transition to the newer gray trash bin service. Customers must have a City-provided gray bin on their scheduled collection day to receive trash collection.
The change aims to ensure accurate service levels and billing for each household, according to the City. The new gray bins are designed to be more durable and include clear sorting reminders on the lid to assist residents with proper waste disposal. If a gray bin is damaged, the City will repair or replace it at no additional charge.
