SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers seized more than 40 pounds of cocaine hidden inside a vehicle at the San Ysidro Port of Entry earlier this month, authorities announced.

According to CBP, the seizure happened on July 1 as a white Toyota RAV4 waited in the vehicle primary inspection lanes at the port.
Officials say a CBP officer’s K-9 alerted to the SUV. Officers directed the driver, identified as a 24-year-old U.S. citizen who was the vehicle’s sole occupant, to open the rear cargo area.
The K-9 alerted officers to the rear seat area, where a physical inspection uncovered several brick-shaped packages wrapped in black tape. The vehicle was then sent to secondary inspection, where non-intrusive imaging technology revealed additional suspicious areas inside the seats.

Officers ultimately removed 15 packages from the vehicle — 10 from the rear cargo area and five from the front seats. Testing confirmed the packages contained 40.38 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $775,296, according to CBP…
