Law enforcement officials collected 105 unwanted firearms at a gun safety event in Encinitas this weekend, authorities said Sunday.
Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office were joined Saturday at Encinitas City Hall by investigators from the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office and personnel with the Carlsbad and Oceanside police departments.
They collected 45 handguns, 57 rifles/shotguns and three assault rifles in exchange for a $100 gift card for handguns, rifles and shotguns or a $200 gift card for assault weapons, the SDSO said in a statement…
