Rabid Bat Startles Patrons at Vista Restaurant

County public health officials looking for anyone who may have come into contact with a bat Sunday, July 19 at the Yellow Deli Restaurant in Vista.

The bat landed on a table while a family was eating at 1 p.m. Another diner used a towel to collect the bat and bring it to the Humane Society in Oceanside. The bat was then delivered to the County’s Public Health Lab where it tested positive for rabies. No direct skin contact with the bat by an individual has been reported at this time.
