SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The San Diego Police Department and California Highway Patrol conducted a joint enforcement operation targeting illegal street racing and sideshow activity across San Diego over the weekend, resulting in multiple arrests and citations, authorities said.

The operation took place on Saturday, as investigators tracked a group using social media to coordinate a series of sideshow takeovers at several locations throughout the city.
Authorities said participants traveled to:
- Scripps Ranch Court and Scripps Ranch Boulevard
- Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and Antigua Boulevard
- Otay Mesa Road and Ocean View Hills Parkway
- Tonawanda Drive and Reo Drive
Police arrested two men they said were involved in promoting, organizing, recruiting for or participating in illegal street racing and sideshow activity.
18-year-old arrested during Scripps Ranch sideshow
According to SDPD, investigators had been monitoring monitoring Joshua David Ruiz, 18, because of social media posts allegedly showing dangerous driving on San Diego freeways and surface streets.
Police said Ruiz’s alleged activities included sideshow takeovers, speed contests and a maneuver known as “white lining.”…
