SAN DIEGO, Calif. (FOX5/KUSI) — New e-bike rules are in effect in the City of San Diego, with new restrictions aimed at protecting younger riders and reducing crashes.
The ordinance took effect Thursday and includes one major change for families: children under 12 are now prohibited from riding Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes within city limits.
City leaders say e-bikes have become an increasingly common way for children and teens to get around San Diego, including near schools, through neighborhoods and along busy streets.
