San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector Larry Cohen Thursday opened “San Diego’s Largest Lost & Found” to promote the county’s annual unclaimed monies claim period.
Standing in front of the county’s historic 1930s bank vault door, Cohen announced more than $1,011,000 is owed to 2,200 potential claimants, including individuals, businesses, nonprofits and other organizations.
“Every dollar in our Unclaimed Monies Program belongs to someone,” Cohen said. “Our job is to safeguard those funds until we can reunite them with their rightful owners. That’s why we’ve transformed our historic bank vault into San Diego’s Largest Lost & Found — to remind people that money they didn’t even know they were missing could be waiting for them.”…
