SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Automated license plate readers have become an increasingly common tool for law enforcement, including in San Diego, where police use a network of about 500 cameras to help investigate crimes and locate missing people.
The San Diego Police Department says the technology has helped officers recover stolen vehicles and develop investigative leads.
