LA MESA, Calif. (KUSI/FOX 5) — The La Mesa Police Department has released results from a DUI checkpoint that was held last Friday on University Avenue.
The checkpoint was held Friday, Aug. 28, and a total of 801 vehicles passed through, according to La Mesa police.
Here are the checkpoint results:
- 801 vehicles passed through
- Six sobriety tests were conducted
- One person was arrested on suspicion of DUI relating to alcohol
- One person was arrested on suspicion of DUI relating to cannabis
- 13 citations for unlicensed drivers were issued
- Three vehicles were impounded
La Mesa PD says DUI checkpoint locations are based on data showing impaired driving-related crash incidents. The California Office of Traffic Safety provides funding for the program through a grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
