SAN DIEGO — The San Diego police sergeant shot in the head in the line of duty during a December 2023 shootout is still recovering from his injuries, and the San Diego Police Officers Association has partnered with Chicken Charlie’s to hold a fundraiser to help support him and his family.
On Wednesday, Jan. 31, 50% of proceeds from Chicken Charlie’s will benefit San Diego Police Sergeant Anthony Elliot, who is recovering from a gunshot wound to the head after a shootout at a 4S Ranch shopping center on Dec. 7.
Elliot was critically injured, initially losing the use of his left arm and leg, leaving him unable to walk. He was sent to a neurology center in Colorado for a specialized procedure and treatment.

However, just this past month, Elliott returned home and was able to walk through the San Diego International Airport where he was greeted by Police Chief David Nisleit and other members of his department.
