Firefighters knock down fire at La Jolla Italian restaurant

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A fire broke out at an Italian restaurant in La Jolla before opening early Sunday morning.

Firefighters with the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department responded to calls for a fire at 6:35 a.m. Sunday at Marisi La Jolla, an Italian restaurant located at the intersection of Herschel and Wall streets.

According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue battalion chief, crews located a hot wall using thermal imaging cameras and were able to open the wall and douse the fire in around 20 minutes.

The battalion chief confirmed firefighters were able to contain the fire to the wall, keeping it from spreading to any adjacent buildings or upstairs apartments.

Marisi La Jolla posted on Facebook Sunday morning they will be closed to the public the remainder of Sunday and Monday for repairs.

No injuries were reported.

The San Diego Fire-Rescue battalion chief said they are investigating the cause of the fire that started within the wall early Sunday, and that it may be related to an electrical issue.
