Chula Vista City Council approves funding for study on second police station as population grows

CHULA VISTA, Calif. — Chula Vista continues to build for the future as one of the fastest-growing cities in San Diego County, with much of that expansion happening in its eastern communities. City leaders say growth is happening so quickly that public safety infrastructure now needs closer examination.

Mayor John McCann says Chula Vista’s population is nearing 300,000 people and is expected to keep rising. While new housing and development have transformed large parts of the city, McCann believes one critical service has not kept pace: police facilities.
