Deen Has New Day in Court for Murder Trial; Being Held on No Bail

EL CENTRO — Richard Omar Deen had his first day in front of an Imperial County Superior Court judge since his death penalty sentence and murder conviction were vacated due to jury selection errors.

The 57-year-old Deen was released from Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego and appeared in front of Judge Jeffrey Jones in El Centro within a few hours on Wednesday, May 20.
