San Diego volunteers help families impacted by evacuations in Orange County

Frantz is among nearly 50,000 people who were ordered to leave their home Friday morning following concerns about a compromised toxic chemical tank at risk of explosion at the aerospace facility in Garden Grove.

She and her family filled up their truck with essentials and went looking for shelter. “We brought a cooler with some of the things from our fridge that we could grab, we’ve got a tent, chairs, we’ve got four cats and a snake, so hotels weren’t really an option,” Frantz said.
