Convicted felon found with loaded 9mm pistol in vehicle: sheriff

(KRON) — A convicted felon prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm was found with a loaded 9mm pistol in their vehicle Thursday afternoon, along with suspected drug paraphernalia, said the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

SMCSO said deputies responded around 12:40 p.m. to a business parking lot in the 500 block of El Camino Real on a report of a man possibly under the influence of drugs.

Deputies located the suspect, later identified as Thomas R. Gilchrist, 27, of Moss Beach, “in a vehicle and observed drug paraphernalia on his lap. During the investigation, deputies located a loaded 9mm pistol in the vehicle’s center console.”

Deputies also found suspected heroin, methamphetamine and additional drug paraphernalia on Gilchrist, according to the sheriff’s office. He was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of multiple felony and misdemeanor charges…
