Comedian and actor arrested at SFO says he was ‘tortured’ in Bay Area jail in new lawsuit

A comedian who was arrested last year at San Francisco International Airport during a dispute with airline staff said he was assaulted by deputies at San Mateo County jail, according to a lawsuit filed Monday in federal court.

Ahmed Ahmed, a 55-year-old Arab American comedian, is suing the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department for assault, battery, negligence and other allegations that stem from his arrest at the airport in September 2025.

After missing a flight connection when returning to the U.S. from a work trip in Thailand, Ahmed and other frustrated passengers got into an argument with a United Airlines representative in the early morning hours at SFO, according to the complaint…
