A misty morning and unusually muggy afternoon is on tap Wednesday in the final phase of post-Tropical Storm Elida’s impacts to Bay Area weather.
From Sunday through Tuesday afternoon, Elida’s moisture was mainly confined to the upper portions of the atmosphere in the way of tropical clouds and occasional large raindrops. Much of that high-level moisture cleared the region Tuesday afternoon, but the muggy feel at ground level will be in full effect Wednesday morning.
That’s because moisture-laden winds out of the southwest are expected to push across the Bay Area as Elida’s lingering circulation moves within a few hundred miles of California.
Thick fog will smother the coast by sunrise, with clouds towering all the way to the summit of Mount Tamalpais. Mist and drizzle is likely in San Francisco, the East Bay hills and along the Pacific coast. Clouds will be nearly 3,000 feet deep so should smother inland valleys, too, meaning drizzle is possible in Wine Country and potentially east of the Caldecott Tunnel…
