Two Bay Area men will spend the rest of their lives in prison for a 2020 revenge killing in San Mateo that left a 30-year-old man dead and his toddler wounded, authorities said. Isileli Mahe, 34, of Oakland, and John Talia Paasi, 33, of San Mateo, were convicted in March of first-degree murder and assault with a semiautomatic firearm after a 24-day trial, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.
San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Michael K. Wendler on Wednesday sentenced them both to life without the possibility of parole, while rejecting a defense request for a new trial.Prosecutors said the two men ambushed Ueta Muasika in the driveway of his Eleanor Drive home on Oct. 30, 2020.
