Dick Vivian, the charismatic owner of Rooky Ricardo’s Records who spent nearly four decades matching San Francisco music fans with soul, oldies and girl-group singles, died Friday, July 24, at his home. He was 78.
The Lower Haight record shop announced Vivian’s death Sunday, July 26, saying he died peacefully “right about the time he would have been leaving to open the shop.”
Vivian had been diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer in March 2025 and had undergone treatment at UCSF, but the shop’s announcement did not give a cause of death…
