One of S.F.’s favorite grocery stores is expanding outside of the city for the first time

Over the last four decades, Gus’s Community Market has become a beloved grocery shopping staple for several San Francisco neighborhoods — but for their newest store, the owners have set their sights outside the city limits for the first time.

Gus’s Community Market, family owned since 1981, will open its sixth store at the Cornerstone of Los Gatos shopping center next spring, the company announced. It will take over an 18,000-square-foot space at 15980 Los Gatos Blvd., formerly a Whole Foods.

“Los Gatos is a vibrant, growing community that values quality, local connections, and exceptional food. We’re excited to create a market that reflects those values while offering an enjoyable shopping experience every day,” co-owner Bobby Vardakastanis said in a press release…
