(KRON) — Sixteen puppies that were abandoned and later rescued in an East Bay Walmart store’s parking lot last month have found forever homes.
The Border Collie-mix puppies were just nine weeks old when a good Samaritan found them running around the parking lot in Livermore on July 8 without an owner in sight. “Sadly, they witnessed one puppy hit by a car and killed. The finder rescued the surviving 16 puppies and brought them to our Dublin and Oakland campuses for immediate care,” the East Bay SPCA wrote.
Shelter workers said the 16 puppies were in good health.
On Thursday, East Bay SPCA had a heartwarming update on the pups. “We’re so happy to share that all 16 puppies have been adopted and are growing up in loving homes,” the shelter told KRON4.

“This situation serves as a perfect example of why we exist, and why we need the support of our community to exist,” said Jes Cytron, East Bay SPCA Vice President of Operations. “Without consistent adoptions and fosters to keep shelter space open, helping these puppies would not have been possible.”…
