Northern California is facing a sharp heat surge
Could Northern California be heading into a major temperature spike? A sharp warmup is expected across the Bay Area this week, with temperatures potentially reaching the upper 90s and low 100s by Wednesday and Thursday.
National Weather Service meteorologist Rick Canepa said those readings could run about 10 to 15 degrees above average. The forecast has also changed quickly, making this heat event a notable shift from the cooler weather recently seen across the region.

Just days ago, forecasters were expecting rain in parts of Northern California. That outlook has now changed dramatically, with weather models pointing toward a much warmer pattern instead.
Canepa described the forecast models as jumpy because the expected weather pattern shifted so quickly. The final temperatures could still change, depending on how strong the developing high-pressure ridge becomes over the region.
