VALPARAISO, Ind. (WRTV) — A cross-country trip from California to New York ended with a massive drug seizure in Northwest Indiana after police found 220 pounds of marijuana inside a rental van.
The stop happened at 7 a.m. Thursday on Interstate 90 in Porter County. An officer with the Lake County Sheriff’s Highway Interdiction Team stopped the van for traffic violations and noticed several large boxes inside the vehicle.
The driver and passenger told the officer they were traveling from California to New York. Both men appeared unusually nervous, and a Lake County police dog signaled that drugs were inside the van…
