(KRON) — Oakland Animal Services said its shelter is overcrowded with large dogs. The shelter reached the maximum capacity for big dogs at 72, and more dogs are arriving every day, according to OAS.
“We currently have shepherds and huskies pushing us over capacity, including two sets of adorable puppies,” Oakland Animal Services director Joe DeVries said Wednesday. “We are counting on the community to step up and help get these wonderful animals into loving homes. Every large dog who leaves the shelter creates a space for the dogs still coming in.”
Anyone interested in adopting or fostering a dog can visit Oakland Animal Services at 1101 29th Avenue. The hours for adoption are Thursdays from 12 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from 12:00 p.m. to 3 p.m.
All animals that are up for adoption have been vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and provided a microchip. Dogs looking for forever homes are listed on OAS’ website. Dogs that are high-priority for adoption and at risk of euthanasia are listed as well…
