Iconic SF Seafood Spot Shutters After 18 Years

After delighting patrons with delectable Dungeness crab rolls and fresh oysters for an impressive 18 years, Woodhouse Fish Co. is bidding farewell to its flagship location this week, as initially reported by Eater SF.

Situated at 2073 Market St., the beloved seafood restaurant is set to cease operations on January 23, concluding a longstanding chapter near the vibrant neighborhoods of Castro and Duboce Triangle. Co-owner Dylan MacNiven conveyed to SFGATE via email that following a change in ownership of the building, Woodhouse Fish Co. did not receive an offer for a new lease. The decision to close stems from the realization that numerous improvements are required to sustain reliable operations at the current location without a renewed lease.

Despite the closure of the Market Street location, loyal patrons of Woodhouse Fish Co. can still indulge in the culinary delights of cioppino, crab cakes, and $1.25 oysters (available exclusively on Tuesdays) at the alternative San Francisco outpost situated at 1914 Fillmore Street.
