The mysterious disappearance of Rose Lena Cole from Oakland, California in the early 1970s

Rose Lena Cole has been missing from Oakland, California (Alameda County), since July 1, 1973. The photo above to the right shows age-progression to 55 years, but she is 69 now, if she is still alive.

About

Due to discrepancies in the accounts when Rose went missing, it could have been anytime between the fall of 1972 and the summer of 1973. She was only 15 or 16 years old. Rose was classified as an endangered runaway. She is listed on The Doe Network, file #2368DFCA, which indicates her dental records and DNA submission are available for future identification. Rose was originally from Michigan.

Physical description

At the time she went missing, Rose was 5’3″ tall and weighed about 120 pounds. She had brown hair, hazel eyes, and freckles.

Details

At the time of Rose’s disappearance, she was enrolled in the Synanon Foundation, a drug and alcohol treatment center in Oakland, California. After running away numerous times and informing a Michigan judge that she had used and sold drugs, her stay there was court-ordered by that judge. It’s unknown what her problems were at home, if any, and why she resorted to drugs.
