A San Francisco firefighter charged in a North Beach bar fight last year will likely avoid jail time after prosecutors greenlit his attorney’s bid for diversion.
Eigil Qwist was charged with misdemeanor counts of assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury and battery following the Oct. 12 incident at Original Joe’s, when police said he struck another man in the back of the head, knocking him to the ground.
In a statement, San Francisco prosecutors said Qwist was charged with a “statutorily diversion-eligible misdemeanor case” and that they had no reason to object to the deal…
