Residents and commuters in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways are urged to take precautionary measures as a series of elevated high tides are forecast to push saltwater onto streets, parks, and parking lots through the long weekend.

The advisory, issued Friday morning, warns that up to one foot of saltwater inundation above ground level is possible during each of three high tide cycles. According to NWS tidal gauge readings at San Francisco, peak impacts are expected at 11:31 PM Saturday, 12:17 AM Monday, and 1:07 AM Tuesday — all late-night events that could catch unprepared motorists off guard.
