(KRON) — Residences near a gas leak in San Jose were evacuated Wednesday as crews worked to make repairs, according to fire officials.
The gas leak was reported in the 200 block of South 24th Street, south of East Santa Clara Street and west of Highway 101, just before 10:30 a.m. The SJFD Hazmat team and PG&E crews responded to the scene.
“All residences within 150 feet are being evacuated as a precaution,” fire officials said in an update at 11:20 a.m. Nearby residences had previously been asked to shelter in place.
